Marcus Rashford Slammed as ex-Man Utd Staff Member ‘Reveals’ Behaviour Behind the Scenes

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan at Barcelona, has been criticised by former first-team masseur Rob Thornley for his actions behind the scenes when they worked together at Old Trafford.

Rashford fell out of favour at United, particularly under former manager Ruben Amorim, and he was subsequently sent out on loan to both Aston Villa and, more recently, Barcelona. The England international is starting to flourish once again out in Spain, and he could return to United at the end of the season, unless Barcelona opt to sign him permanently.

Rashford’s actions have been criticised during his time at United, but that’s part and parcel with playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world. The pacey forward has now been called out for some of his actions, with Thornley not holding back with his comments.

Rashford Called Out for Man Utd Behaviour

Speaking on The Busby Way Podcast, former masseur Thornley has questioned Rashford’s demeanour when at United, suggesting that he ‘became a different person’.

“I’ll say it, I don’t mind, I know Marcus, and if he’s not happy with what I say, I don’t care. He became unhappy. He became a different person. I watched this player that used to be a happy, lovely kid just moping around, especially in the club. Outside the club, I used to see him every now and then, and he was fine outside the club, but in the club, he had this demeanour about him that just wasn’t great.”

Thornley also mentions Rashford’s efforts on the pitch, claiming that he was just ‘walking around’.

“Then it transferred onto the pitch, and then you see him walking around, and you just wanted energy levels out of him, which is what Michael Carrick is doing now. He’s getting energy levels out of the players, and you wanted that out of Marcus, but you just weren’t getting it, and it was tossed off basically. For me, he’s half tossed off his Manchester United career rather than it has been taken away from him.”

Thornley certainly didn’t hold back with his words, and it will be interesting to see whether he’s given another chance at Old Trafford in the near future, with a new manager potentially wanting to work with the talented forward.

Rashford Might Have Played Last Man Utd Game

There’s every chance that Rashford has already played his last game in a United shirt. The 28-year-old joined Barcelona on a season-long loan last summer, and the La Liga giants have a £26m option to turn the deal permanent.

Rashford has impressed in Spain and it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise if Barcelona opted to sign him on a permanent basis, meaning we might not see him playing for United again.

Rashford does have another two years remaining on his United deal, and if Barcelona decide not to keep him, it could be an interesting scenario in the summer with a new United manager at the helm.
