Andrew Kitchen appointed referee for Man Utd vs West Ham

The Premier League have confirmed Andrew Kitchen will be the referee for United’s clash against West Ham.

Kitchen, who was recently promoted to the Premier League as a match official, will referee in his first match involving United on Thursday.

This is a milestone for any referee – involved in a senior United match at Old Trafford for the first time – and the fans will be keeping a close eye on him throughout the game for any slip-ups.

Kitchen has previously taken charge of matches involving United U23s, including a 4-0 win over Newcastle in 2019 and a draw with rivals Man City in December 2020.

This season, Kitchen has given seven yellow cards in the Premier League and 38 across all competitions.

Man Utd must be wary of looming suspension

Two United players are going into the game on four yellow cards this season.

That means Casemiro and Patrick Dorgu will be walking a tightrope, granted they both start against West Ham.

Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes and Bryan Mbeumo have two bookings each this season.

Other United players to be booked include Benjamin SeskoLuke Shaw and Noussair Mazraoui.
