The Man Utd ‘characteristics’ of five players stood out for Ruben Amorim in Nottingham Forest match

Ruben Amorim has now broken down what five Manchester United players showed in his tactical system in their 2-2 Premier League draw against Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest hosted Manchester United at City Ground and Sean Dyche’s men were trailing 1-0 at half-time after Casemiro scored a headed effort in the match.

However, Sean Dyche’s side rallied back on Saturday afternoon and Forest stunned United in the first five minutes of the second half of the Premier League clash.

Morgan Gibbs-White cancelled out Casemiro’s first-half opener after he scored a header past Senne Lammens, only three minutes after the play had resumed.

Senne Lammens was left helpless only two minutes later after Nicolo Savona stabbed the ball past the 23-year-old United summer signing from close range.

Ruben Amorim avoided an embarrassment at City Ground late in the second half, with Amad Diallo netting the equaliser with a sensational volley in the 81st minute.

Ruben Amorim tells Man Utd fans what Diogo Dalot and Patrick Dorgu did vs Nottingham Forest

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim named an unchanged starting XI for Saturday’s 2-2 draw, with Diogo Dalot playing as an inverted full-back for his side.

Dalot failed to impress United fans with his showing and the 26-year-old Portuguese right-back has struggled defensively when playing out on the left side of the pitch.

Amorim explained why he didn’t shake up his attacking line with his substitutes and the role that Dalot was playing in his tactical system against Nottingham Forest.

Speaking at his post-match press conference on Saturday, he said: “Yeah, sometimes it’s not, if you put more strikers [on], I don’t feel that we are going to play better.

“If you see Dalot, many times Dalot has the ball with space to make the cross, but he’s a right foot, he’s always inside with that space.”

Dalot was hooked off in the 69th minute and replaced with Patrick Dorgu, who offers Amorim a wing-back option who can cross from the left flank of the pitch.

However, Amorim added that both Patrick Dorgu and Dalot can do the same thing when summer signing Matheus Cunha is playing in his United set-up.

“The only thing is [with] Patrick, you are going to do [the] same thing when you have the ball, go to the side and cross and the space is there,” he continued.

“Because if you want to come inside, Cunha is there always to receive the ball.”

Ruben Amorim reveals the difference between Noussair Mazraoui and Leny Yoro after Man Utd’s display vs Nottingham Forest

Noussair Mazraoui was the only other substitution that Amorim made in the Forest match, with Leny Yoro making way for the United defender in the 77th minute.

Amorim admitted that his decision to withdraw Leny Yoro and replace him with Noussair Mazraoui showed that he was trying to play to each player’s strengths.

“Nous, if you see then end of the second half, Leny was the guy always with space to run with the ball and Nous is a full-back, so we tried to use the characteristics of the players,” he added.

United are sixth in the Premier League after collecting a point and the Red Devils are level with fifth-place Sunderland, fourth-place Chelsea and third-place Tottenham.
