Matheus Cunha has revealed who his best friend is at Manchester United after completing a transfer to the club in the summer.
After an impressive 2024/25 campaign with Wolves, Matheus Cunha joined Manchester United in the summer.
The Brazil international, who scored his first goal in United’s 4-2 win over Brighton, has won over the support of fans with his performances on the pitch.
Cunha didn’t have one of his better performances in United’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest last week, although the forward made four key passes – the highest number he has recorded in a single match since signing for the Red Devils.
As with every player who joins a new club, Cunha is in the process of adapting to his new surroundings, and the 26-year-old has wasted no time letting everyone know who his best friend is at the club.
Matheus Cunha hails Harry Maguire’s honesty
To help United fans learn more about new signing Cunha, the Premier League linked up with the Brazil star to record a day in his life at United.
All of the footage was recorded at the new first team facilities at Carrington, and it’s clear to see that Cunha is already a popular figure in the squad.
In one of the first scenes, Cunha walks into the canteen before letting Luke Shaw know why Harry Maguire is his best friend at the club.
After spotting Shaw laughing, Cunha says: “And this guy, tells me he’s my best friend. Imagine.”
Cunha went on to add that Maguire is his best friend at United because of how he always treats him with honesty.
“This is my real best friend H [Harry Maguire]. Always treats me like, regular… honest.”
It’s always a good sign to see new signings settle quickly in their new environment.
Cunha’s personality shines through, even though most of the players didn’t want to sit with him at breakfast due to the cameraman’s task of following his every move.
Matheus Cunha looking to build on record vs Tottenham
Cunha will take on Tottenham for the first time since joining United this weekend.
During his time at Wolves, Cunha faced Spurs four times and he was on the winning side three times, scoring one goal.
It could be the boost for United after losing four times against Tottenham last season, including the Europa League final in May.
