Manchester United keep tabs on Palmeiras star Allan
Manchester United are now looking at the South American market to scout young talent and add them to their squad to strengthen their long-term planning. The Red Devils are now probably eyeing players who possess the technical skills, directness and obviously fit Ruben Amorim’s project. United have looked at several Brazilian talents, as the country keeps producing gems of footballers. In this article, we will talk about one such name that has come under the radar of the Red Devils recently.
What’s the matter?
Spanish news outlet Fichajes, also relayed by Manchester Evening News, has reported that Amorim’s side are tracking the progress of Palmeiras winger Allan, who is currently one of the most exciting young attackers in Brazil. The 21-year-old keeps impressing everyone with his sharpness in the off-the-ball November, balance, and his sheer ability to stretch defensive lines from wide positions. The Brazilian club has earmarked him as their next big sale after successfully making a profit from the transfer of Endrick, Estevao, and Vitor Reis to Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester City, respectively.
The same report reveals that the player has a release clause close to €100 million, and hence, Palmeiras have a strong hold in the negotiations. Chelsea and Real Madrid are also in the race with United, and that brings us to the possibility of yet another heated chase for a young talent. Though the fee looks high, the success of recent Brazilian exports makes United keen to land what they believe could be their next breakthrough.
Why Allan Andrade Elias isn’t the right fit for Manchester United
Manchester United’s recruitment team has spent the last few years building a squad around pace, structure, and tactical discipline. Under Ruben Amorim, every wide player tracks back, keeps shape, and creates width without losing defensive balance. In that context, spending €100 million on Palmeiras’ Allan Andrade Elias will not be the right move.
has displayed raw ability every time he plays. His pace stretches defences, and his dribbling gives him confidence to take on opponents one-on-one. The 21-year-old creates chances with quick bursts and unpredictable movement, qualities that impress scouts.
Yet behind that flair is a player still learning the details of structured football. His finishing remains erratic, and his decisions under pressure often break attacking flow. Amorim’s 3-4-3 system demands wingers who press and protect their wing-backs, something Allan still struggles to do.
Why does the move make little sense?
Manchester United already have Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo, both filling those wide roles with energy and intent. Mbeumo adds experience and calm in the final third, while Diallo grows steadily under Amorim. Signing Allan won’t strengthen the squad; it will only crowd it with another developing winger still learning tactical discipline.
The investment will be a waste of resources. United need a creative midfielder to manage transitions or a defensive midfielder for Amorim’s build-from-the-back system. The Red Devils have faced issues in the defensive midfield position, and have been tracking Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton, both of whom come at a very high price tag. Thus, spending that amount on Allan repeats past mistakes where potential outweighed practicality.
