A closer look at some Manchester United headlines as Ruben Amorim discusses the upcoming January transfer window and Nani instructs the club to target one of his former team-mates

Manchester United have been linked with several players ahead of the January transfer window. The Red Devils may be primarily focused on their Premier League campaign but the club will already be making recruitment plans behind the scenes.

United’s summer signings have made an early impact, with Senne Lammens becoming the club’s first-choice goalkeeper while forwards Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko have provided the team with more attacking options. Manager Ruben Amorim will hope United can make more positive signings when the transfer window reopens in January.

However, the United boss is also aware that some of his squad will want to seek moves away from Old Trafford, especially with a World Cup on the horizon. Meanwhile, former United icon Nani has instructed the club to hijack a Premier League rival’s transfer plans. Here, Mirror Football takes a closer look at some of the headlines surrounding United.

Ruben Amorim makes January transfer window admission

Ruben Amorim is already prepared for some of his United players to ask to leave the club in January. While the Red Devils have found a somewhat settled side, others are struggling for regular starts, such as Kobbie Mainoo, who handed in a loan request during the summer.

“A lot of things can happen,” Amorim said in a recent press conference. “Even in our club, and you know that we have the World Cup, some players are not playing, they will ask to leave, so I have to manage everything.”

However, the United boss is not solely focused on the club’s potential outgoings. Amorim has insisted the club will look to sign players who could have a long-lasting impact on his side.

“We want to bring players, everyone here, we want to bring players that we can see a big future in Manchester United,” he continued. “We are not just buying one guy because now we feel in December that we need this kind of player for now.

“We want to buy players that we know we are not going to change a lot of times. So that is our idea. I don’t know what is going to happen. But of course, we think about how we can improve the team, and in January, the window is open, we can do something.”
