Alan Shearer says what has impressed him ‘more than anything’ about Manchester United recently

Alan Shearer has been impressed by Manchester United, who kept their unbeaten run going against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Shearer and Shay Given were critical of Benjamin Sesko over the weekend amid the striker’s inconsistent form since his summer move.

However, there were still positives to take from the 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest, including another top display from Casemiro, who is back to his best in 2025/26.

Amad Diallo’s equaliser was world-class as well, but Alan Shearer has been left impressed by something else happening at Old Trafford of late.

Why Alan Shearer has been impressed by Manchester United

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live before the match on November 1, Shearer gave his verdict on United’s recent turnaround.

He said: “It’s too early to say they’re back, but they’re certainly playing with more freedom. You can see they’re enjoying it a lot more, which is easy to say when they’re winning games, I guess.

“But they had to put themselves in the position, and they have done, and they’ve now got to keep it going, and keep the consistency.

Asked what’s impressed him about Man Utd, he continued: “I think a bit of everything. I think they’ve worked hard to block out the noise, which must have been difficult because you understand that they were getting hammered from every corner, and maybe rightly so at times.

“But their attitude more than anything [has impressed him]. I think it’s been a difficult period, but the way they’ve come through that.”

Amad Diallo ‘disappointed’ after Nottingham Forest

Shearer’s point that Man United’s attitude in recent weeks has been impressive was hammered home by Diallo’s post-match comments.

Speaking to the press right after the match, the wing-back gave a humble reaction to his goal and stated that they are disappointed with the result.

He said: “I don’t know if it is goal of the season. We are really disappointed to go home with one point.

“We have confidence now. We believe in the manager and the system. We are trying to do our best. We believe in the manager like he believes in us.”
