Jeremy Monga is being monitored by Manchester United, with the 16-year-old Leicester wonderkid one of the hottest prospects in English football – and he’s already worked with Red Devils legend Ruud van Nistelrooy.
TBR Football revealed on Monday morning that Manchester City were leading the race for Monga, but there are a whole host of clubs also interested – Ruben Amorim’s side included, alongside the likes of Tottenham, Newcastle, and Chelsea.
The 16-year-old became the second-youngest player ever to feature in a Premier League match in 2025, with Ethan Nwaneri of Arsenal taking the number one slot.
Monga, of course, featured for the Foxes under Ruud van Nistelrooy’s reign, and the Dutchman has already been impressed with his qualities.
Ruud van Nistelrooy was a fan of Jeremy Monga
Speaking on various occasions about Monga, Van Nistelrooy had the following to say on the youngster.
He told the Premier League after a difficult loss to Newcastle: “You could see glimpses of his great qualities. He’s a great winger and has speed. He’s a fantastic talent, a great boy. He deserved these minutes and hopefully, more to come.”
Monga was also named in the squad very early on against Manchester United in the cup, where Van Nistelrooy had the following to say about him.
Speaking to ITV, he said: “We feel Jeremy is ready for this and of course there’s still a long way to go. We have evaluated his progress and, from last week onwards, he will be part of regular first-team training until the end of the season.
“Physically he is very strong and mature already at this age. He deserved this opportunity and we need wingers.
“It’s clear he is a big talent, but we cannot go too quickly with a young boy like that.”
Would Jeremy Monga fit in at Manchester United?
United have always invested in youth, so the consensus is that a young talent playing in the English divisions should be firmly on their radar – particularly when their noisy neighbours are involved.
Monga plays primarily on the left wing but is capable of operating on the right and can also play down the middle as a number 10.
He would be a perfect player to rotate in Ruben Amorim’s regime, interchanging for cup games with the likes of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who have been thriving in the Premier League but, of course, need breaks.
After selling Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea, Monga could be the perfect interchangeable winger to fill the void at Old Trafford. Easy decision!
