Peter Crouch predicts Liverpool vs Manchester United result in the Premier League

Liverpool cult hero Peter Crouch has predicted the result of his former side’s upcoming clash against Manchester United.

The Reds lost three consecutive matches across all competitions heading into the international break and will host their fiercest rivals at Anfield when club football resumes.

Liverpool’s 2-1 loss against Chelsea was a particularly low point for Arne Slot as his side conceded another stoppage-time winner in the Premier League.

While the Reds remain only two points behind Arsenal at the top of the league table, the champions will embark on a tough run of fixtures starting on Sunday, and supporters will be expecting a return to winning ways.

Several Liverpool stars have enjoyed exceptional performances for their respective nations, and now Crouch has offered his prediction for the North West derby.

Liverpool will beat Manchester United at Anfield

When speaking on That Peter Crouch podcast, the former Liverpool forward is predicting a comfortable victory for his former side against Man United.

“Alright, listen, Manchester United are struggling, I would say. They played better against Sunderland, but I’m going to go for a 3-1 Liverpool win.”

Slot has huge problems at Liverpool. His newly assembled squad has appeared unbalanced throughout the 2025/26 campaign, and now that the late goals have dried up at Anfield, the underwhelming performances have been laid bare.

Ruben Amorim nearly snatched the three points at Anfield when the sides played out a 2-2 draw at Anfield last season, with Trent Alexander-Arnold producing a disastrous display amid the ongoing speculation regarding his move to Real Madrid.

However, the Liverpool boss will be encouraged by what he has seen from his players during the international break, as many have rediscovered their form for their countries.

Mohamed Salah thrived in a new role for Egypt, while Hugo Ekitike dazzled for France by playing alongside Kylian Mbappe in a two-striker formation. This will, of course, have supporters speculating whether this could be achieved at Anfield with Alexander Isak.

Nevertheless, facing United is the equivalent of the Champions League final for the Reds faithful, and the upcoming clash represents the perfect opportunity for Liverpool to break their slump and to kickstart their season.

Arne Slot must get his Liverpool team selection right

One of the main problems facing Liverpool this season is that all of the summer signings, except Ekitike, have underwhelmed since arriving at Anfield.

While the Reds remain confident that all the new arrivals will prove to be resounding successes once they settle into the side, their continued involvement in the starting line-up has proven detrimental.

Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong, in particular, have left the side too defensively vulnerable as of late, with the opposition exploiting the space behind the full-back positions.

Slot cannot afford a fourth consecutive defeat; therefore, the Dutchman must select a starting line-up that consists mostly of last year’s title-winning squad, injuries permitting, and allow those with experience in big fixtures to set an example for the new players.
