Liverpool’s players will return from their international break to face arch-rivals Manchester United on Sunday.
The Reds have been in a poor run of form over the last few weeks, with Arne Slot’s men now losing three games in a row across all competitions.
Although this isn’t the end of the world as they’re still second in the Premier League table, the fact that one of their defeats came against Galatasaray is a massive cause for concern.
At the moment, it’s unclear what Liverpool’s plans are and how they’re going to get themselves back to the top of the Premier League table.
But, since their next top-flight game is against Manchester United, Ruben Amorim’s men are also in a poor run of form, with Paul Parker believing that the Reds will target one specific player in the Red Devils’ starting XI.
Paul Parker believes Liverpool will target Luke Shaw on Sunday due to his laziness
One player who hasn’t been at their best this season is Mohamed Salah.
Indeed, he’s chipped in with a few goals and assists here and there, but, by his usual standards, he’s performing well below par.
Players such as Hugo Ekitike have had to pick up the slack; however, since Salah has had a good couple of games for Egypt this week, his form could end up improving.
And, while speaking on the Devils’ Advocate Podcast, former Man United man, Parker, shared that he thinks Liverpool and Salah will target £30million man Luke Shaw on Sunday due to his “laziness.”
“You look at the teams they have played against and they can’t handle pace and energy levels,” he said.
“If Liverpool play in front of them, it will be great but I don’t think they will. I think they will try and turn them around, especially on the left side with Luke Shaw.
“Salah is going to be looking to run in behind with and without the ball, knowing the laziness of Luke Shaw, who he will be pulling at his shirt all the time and little things like that.”
Liverpool must beat Manchester United on Sunday
Over the last few years, Liverpool fans have been mostly confident going into their games against Man United.
This term, however, things seem a little different as the Reds have been miles off the pace and find themselves in one of their worst runs in recent memory.
Admittedly, the Red Devils haven’t been much better, but since there’s so much riding on the game due to the rivalry, a lot more pressure is thrown into the mix.
And, seeing as though the likes of Conor Bradley and Milos Kerkez have already shown that they can’t keep their heads, things could end up turning sour rather quickly.
At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what will happen, but if Liverpool don’t want to become the laughing stock of the Premier League, they have to put everything that they have into winning the game.
