Marcus Rashford’s Barcelona teammate has been left in awe at the forward’s ability since joining on loan from Manchester United in the summer transfer window
Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny has disclosed just how remarkable Marcus Rashford has been in training since his switch from Manchester United, describing him as ‘unstoppable’.
Rashford made the move to the Catalan giants on a season-long loan deal during the summer, with Barcelona holding a £26.2million (€30m) option-to-buy. The 28-year-old has netted five times and provided seven assists in 13 appearances under Hansi Flick this campaign.
The striker has publicly expressed his desire to make his Barcelona switch permanent at the end of the season. Sporting director Deco has echoed the player’s sentiment, confirming the club is delighted with his development.
Szczęsny has now become the latest figure to sing the praises of the England star, offering insight into Rashford’s attitude and displays during training sessions. Speaking on Barcelona’s official YouTube channel, the former Arsenal shot-stopper revealed his admiration for the forward since his arrival.
“He’s an excellent player, I love him a lot,” he stated. “Direct in his play, attacks with speed, and he’s contributed to a lot of goals.
“I think he’s a complete player, and I remember him since he was 18 or 19 in the Premier League. I knew he was special back then.”
He added: “He has fewer goals than he deserves, because in training, when he’s having a good day, you can’t stop him. If he shows that magical right foot more in matches, he’ll be very dangerous.”
Szczęsny’s glowing praise of Rashford’s training ethic follows further commendation at Aston Villa. After his January transfer window move, the forward made a significant impact with 10 goals in 17 games before an injury curtailed his playing time.
