Man United manager Ruben Amorim could spring a surprise against Liverpool by recalling an out-of-favour midfielder for the blockbuster clash at Anfield.
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim could hand a surprise comeback to an out-of-favour midfielder for the blockbuster clash against Liverpool on Sunday. The Sun states that Amorim is considering recalling Uruguayan defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte to the starting lineup for the match at Anfield.
Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo have mostly been on the bench this season, with Amorim preferring the pairing of Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes. But things can change against Liverpool. Casemiro and Bruno were absent from training on Thursday as they returned from the international break. Also, missing were Matheus Cunha and Amad Diallo, who were given extra rest despite undergoing individual training at Carrington.
Ugarte was part of the training with senior players and The Sun has said that Amorim is considering the 24-year-old as a surprise pick for the Liverpool match. Ugarte did not play for Uruguay in the international break as Marco Biesla excluded him from matches against the Dominican Republic and Uzbekistan. It was an experimental squad and Ugarte was given rest by the national team.
