Manchester United have been linked with a move to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, and Fabrizio Romano, writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, has confirmed that it’s just normal scouting activity at the moment, with nothing advanced on concrete just yet.
Anderson has had a dramatic rise over the last couple of seasons since his move to The City Ground from Newcastle United. Forest took advantage of Newcastle’s need to offload one of their academy stars due to profit and sustainability regulations, and they are reaping the rewards now.
Anderson has quickly become a regular for England, and has every chance of making Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad next summer, and could even be in the starting XI. United are in the market for a new midfielder ahead of 2026, so the links to a player of Anderson’s profile and calibre make sense with the January transfer window just a few months away.
Fabrizio Romano: Anderson to Man Utd Links
Writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Romano has suggested that there is nothing concrete between United and Forest midfielder Anderson as it stands. The respected reporter confirms that it’s just normal scouting activity at the moment, with nothing advanced.
“Nothing is concrete on this yet. Just normal scouting activity from what I’m told, but nothing advanced or concrete yet.”
Reports have suggested that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has given the green light for United to make a move to secure the signature of Anderson in the January transfer window. Anderson, who has been described as “phenomenal”, is unlikely to be available at a cheap price, considering the impact he’s already made at Forest since his arrival from Newcastle.
Anderson made the move to The City Ground for a fee of around £35m, and you’d imagine the Midlands outfit would want to make a hefty profit to sanction a departure. The 22-year-old has to consider his place in the England squad if he does make a move in the January window, especially with the World Cup fast approaching.
There’s every chance Anderson would become an instant starter at United, considering their struggles in the middle of the park, but he’s currently flourishing at Forest. The change of manager might impact his future, with Sean Dyche recently appointed in place of Ange Postecoglou.
