Fabrizio Romano: Man Utd Convinced ‘Sensational’ Star Will Leave in 2026

Manchester United are ‘convinced’ that Rasmus Hojlund will depart the club on a permanent move to Napoli next year, GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

The Danish striker has been enjoying life in Serie A since moving to Napoli on loan this summer, scoring four goals in his first six appearances for the Italian side.

Napoli have an option to make Hojlund’s move permanent after the season, which could turn into an obligation under certain conditions, reportedly worth €44m (£38m).

Romano suggests all parties involved expect Hojlund to continue playing for the defending Serie A winners after the season, with United aiming to recoup around half of what they paid Atalanta for the striker in 2023.

Hojlund Expected to Join Napoli Permanently

Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, revealed that United could receive a total of €50m from Hojlund’s move to Napoli, with €6m amounting to his loan fee:

“There is an obligation to buy, and I can tell you that Manchester United are quite convinced that that obligation to buy will be triggered for Rasmus Hojlund.

“Hojlund is expected to stay at Napoli. Hojlund is fully expected to be a Napoli player on a permanent transfer from Manchester United.

“The transfer fee is already clear. I told you about that. Let me repeat. It’s €6 million already received by Manchester United as a loan fee. €44 million for the buy option clause becoming an obligation under certain conditions.

“But the expectation again of all parties involved: player, agents, United and Napoli, is for Rasmus Hojlund to stay at Napoli and for Man United to receive a total package of €50 million for Rasmus Hojlund.

“So that deal is fully expected to happen and that’s going to be obviously important money for Manchester United.”

Hojlund joined Man United in the summer of 2023 and has made 95 appearances at Old Trafford to date, scoring 26 goals and providing six assists.

The ‘sensational’ Danish striker struggled to find his form under Ruben Amorim last season, netting just four times in 32 Premier League appearances, and dropped down the pecking order following United’s summer spending spree.

The Red Devils welcomed a trio of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, and parted ways with several first-team outcasts, with Antony and Alejandro Garnacho leaving permanently, while Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho secured loan moves.
