Bryan Mbeumo ‘takes’ Carlos Baleba transfer action as Manchester United star gets to work

Bryan Mbeumo is now back from international duty, where he was reportedly trying to persuade a fellow Premier League star to join him at Man United

Manchester United summer signing Bryan Mbeumo is reportedly working to convince international team-mate Carlos Baleba to join him at Old Trafford.

It’s no secret that Ruben Amorim is looking to strengthen his midfield when the transfer window next opens, with a lot of talk over the position in the opening weeks of the season.

Back in the summer, United made contact with Brighton over a deal for Baleba; however, Seagulls chairman Tony Bloom later explained his club’s stance caused the Reds to walk away.

“I don’t think Baleba was a saga. There was interest from Manchester United, and we said that he wasn’t available this summer and they went away,” he told The Argus.

“So we’ve had many bigger sagas in the past. But Carlos Baleba, his improvement has been immense. Massively important player to this football club, and just delighted that he’s with us for this season.”

Beleba has failed to hit previous heights with his performances for Brighton so far this season, and that has led to some reports that United may now instead be prioritising a move for Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.

But that has not reportedly stopped Mbeumo from trying his best to try and help make a move for Baleba possible. According to the Sun, the United forward is trying to persuade the midfielder to join him at Old Trafford.

Both players have been on international duty with Cameroon over the past two weeks, providing Mbeumo with the perfect opportunity to speak with Baleba. The report claims that the United man has become like a ‘big brother’ to the 21-year-old.

However, it is added that any transfer is more likely to happen next summer than in the upcoming January window.

The two players will now be back at their respective clubs ahead of the return of the Premier League this weekend. But Mbeumo will have the chance to continue his persuasion next month when Cameroon face DR Congo in a World Cup qualifier.
