“What a player!”: Dortmund eyeing yet another EFL wonderkid, but United ready to fight tooth and nail to win the race – report

Manchester United is actively seeking defensive reinforcements, especially with significant changes occurring this summer and even more anticipated for the upcoming year.

Victor Lindelof departed on a free transfer at the conclusion of his contract and has subsequently signed with Aston Villa, while Jonny Evans announced his retirement during the summer.

Harry Maguire has been rumored to be considering a departure next year, and Lionel Messi is allegedly urging Barcelona to target Lisandro Martinez, who is presently out of action due to an injury.

Additionally, INEOS has intentions to bolster that position, although it may not involve a high-profile signing, as the co-owners consistently search for hidden talent.

Dylan Lawlor on United’s radar

That strategy has proven to be quite effective thus far, and now, according to EFL Analysis, the Red Devils are focusing on Cardiff prodigy Dylan Lawlor.

At just 19 years of age, he has already achieved full international status with Wales, while also being a consistent player for the Bluebirds this season.

Wales manager Craig Bellamy expressed his admiration for the Cardiff prodigy, stating, “Beyond impressed. What a player,” as reported.

His performances have garnered the attention of numerous clubs in the English top tier, in addition to teams like Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.

Dortmund has a reputation for identifying emerging superstars from lower divisions, and they may be poised to do so again. However, United is prepared to compete vigorously to secure his signature.

In-demand wonderkid

“Cardiff youngster Dylan Lawlor is being watched closely by several Premier League clubs as well as German giants Borussia Dortmund.

“EFL Analysis understands that a host of Premier League clubs are closely monitoring Cardiff starlet Lawlor.

“We can reveal that Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle United have all watched him this season, whilst we can also reveal RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund have also been alerted to his progress.”

The centre-back signed a new three-year contract recently to deter suitors, but it does not seem to have worked. While Cardiff will try and hold on, they might have to let go if they receive a big enough bid.

Now it remains to be seen which club approaches them first. Hopefully, it is the 20-time English league champions.
