Sources: Germany international snubbed last minute move to Man United

Manchester United made a strong late push to sign Angelo Stiller from VfB Stuttgart during the closing days of the summer transfer window, but the German midfielder rejected their advances, sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside.

The 24-year-old is committed to maintaining his position as a mainstay in Sebastian Hoeneß’ first team and securing a spot in Germany’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.

The deal was spearheaded by Man United’s coaching staff, who saw midfield voids where Stiller’s skill set may be useful.

Angelo Stiller has caught the attention of the biggest clubs

He is a desirable contender for the Premier League because of his exceptional passing range, poise in possession, and vision, which have distinguished him in the Bundesliga.

The management of Old Trafford even considered using his £32 million release clause, albeit it is only effective during specific times.

Stuttgart can terminate it for merely €2 million, which makes things even more complicated and gives the team significant leverage to prevent an escape.

Other suitors have not been put off by Stiller’s choice. For months, Liverpool has been keeping an eye on him because they believe he can improve the technical skill of their midfield.

He advanced through the youth academy at Bayern Munich, and they are also thinking about bringing him back to Bavaria. The possibility of a homecoming remains open due to his Munich heritage.

Man United face tough competition to sign Stiller

Real Madrid has expressed interest in other places, but they haven’t made their intentions official yet.

Stiller has been added to Barcelona’s shortlist under Hansi Flick, but any agreement is very challenging due to the Catalan team’s continuous financial difficulties.

Arsenal is regarded as one of the top challengers among English clubs. Stiller is drawn to their project because it emphasizes young talent and regular playing time, but negotiations may be slowed by Stuttgart’s valuation, which is estimated to be close to €60 million.

Stiller is currently happy in Stuttgart, where he plays a vital part for a squad that greatly respects him.

He would rather be safe than take a chance, especially with the World Cup approaching. The January window, though, might alter the situation.

Julian Nagelsmann has been full of praise for the German international midfielder:

“I must say I am a bit of a fan of Angelo Stiller…”
