“My understanding…” – Fabrizio Romano has just shared big Man Utd exit update on Andre Onana

Fabrizio Romano claims that the Manchester United goalkeeper is eager to join Trabzonspor after the Red Devils and the Turkish team reached an agreement.

Even though the English summer transfer season ended earlier this week, certain European clubs are still eligible to close deals, and other nations like Turkey still have open windows. Despite the fact that they can’t replace them, it’s a chance for teams like United to get rid of some of their deadwood.

With Altay Bayindir and Onana as their possibilities for the 2025–2026 campaign, United has had some trouble filling the goalie position in recent years.

Fabrizio Romano: Man Utd Exit Update on Andre Onana

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano has confirmed that the deal for Onana to join Trabzonspor has ‘very, very good chances’ to happen, and he expects a deal to take place before the Turkish transfer window closes. Onana is keen on a move to Turkey, with the two clubs having an agreement in place for a loan deal…

“My understanding is that the deal for Andre Onana to Trabzonspor has very, very, very good chances to happen. My expectation is for the deal to happen. Let’s say like this. The deal is being negotiated on player side, but there is an agreement, as exclusively told you yesterday, Manchester United and Trabzonspor for a loan deal, and no buy option clause, no loan fee. So the agreement club to club with Man Utd and Trabzonspor is done. What I can tell you is that Andre Onana is open to that possibility, open to joining Trabzonspor, open to trying a new opportunity. And so now it’s about the contract details.”

After a dismal stint with the team since signing from Inter Milan, it is not surprising that United has approved Onana’s exit. Senne Lammens was acquired by Ruben Amorim’s team during the summer transfer window, raising more questions about Onana’s future at Old Trafford.

Although it’s uncertain if Lammens will immediately take over as United’s starting goalkeeper, Onana’s departure would undoubtedly reduce the number of available possibilities. There is no assurance that Bayindir will succeed in the Premier League right away because he has made starts this season and Lammens lacks experience, particularly at a top level.
