Manchester United are reportedly planning to make a move to sign Chelsea target and Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton in the upcoming winter window, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.
This summer, the Red Devils signed Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha to restructure their offensive unit. However, in response to Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana’s subpar start to the season, they signed Senne Lammens on deadline day to strengthen the goalkeeping unit.
The Man Utd management, however, failed to recognize the necessity of strengthening the midfield division. At the moment, Ruben Amorim has four choices for the engine room: Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte, and Kobbie Mainoo.
But in recent years, Casemiro has struggled in the Premier League and lost his quickness. However, since moving from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, Ugarte hasn’t had a chance to demonstrate his abilities in the Premier League.
Mainoo hasn’t been able to obtain consistent playing time since he hasn’t been able to gain Amorim’s trust. He even considered going on loan, but the club forbade him from doing so.
According to Fichajes, Wharton is a top target for Manchester United’s January midfield acquisition. United has begun to finalize the transaction because they think the Englishman would be a great replacement for Casemiro.

His current contract is slated to expire in 2029, and the Eagles have stuck a £100 million price tag on his head, so they won’t let him leave for nothing.
In addition to Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid are also interested in the 21-year-old. Therefore, there are plenty of possible suitors for the young person right now.
In recent years, Wharton has demonstrated his abilities in the English top flight, helping the South London team win the Community Shield and FA Cup.
He can play weaving passes between the lines and is a technically gifted player who can also contribute defensively. He had trouble with muscular injuries last season, though, and suffered another one last weekend against Aston Villa, right before the international break.
Therefore, before completing any possible deal to gain his services, United and Chelsea should exercise caution on his fitness issues.
