Man Utd ‘prepare’ record ‘offer’ for ‘historic signing’ as ‘three elite options’ revealed as targets

As they seek to make a “historic signing,” Manchester United is reportedly already “preparing” a record “offer” for Carlos Baleba of Brighton.

Man Utd spent almost £230 million on acquisitions during this summer’s transfer window, bringing in Senne Lammens, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko.

As Antony, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, and Rasmus Hojlund sealed their departures, the Red Devils also sought to get rid of deadwood.

These big earners’ departures brought in money, but despite their bold attempt to sign Baleba prior to the transfer window, they were unable to buy a new midfield player.

With Brighton apparently holding out for nearly £100 million, Man Utd was priced out of a summer signing for Baleba, rendering the deal impossible.

But according to numerous reports, Baleba is still on Manchester United’s radar, and they may make another offer in January or the summer of next year.

According to Spanish publication Fichajes, Man Utd is now “preparing” to make a record “offer” to make Baleba a “historic signing,” and the Premier League powerhouses are likely to submit a bid of up to 150 million euros (£129 million).

In addition to surpassing the rumored £125 million Liverpool spent to acquire Alexander Isak from Newcastle United on deadline day, this would smash their club’s transfer fee record.

The report adds:

‘Manchester United failed to finalise his signing in August, but they haven’t thrown in the towel. On the contrary, they’re determined to return to the fray in 2026 with a proposal that could reach €150 million.’
