Man Utd Player in Pay Cut Row as Ruben Amorim Angered by His Behaviour

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim reacted badly when it emerged that one of his first-team players wanted a new contract ahead of the new campaign.

Most of United’s players are thought to have had their salaries slashed by 25% as they battled for the most of the previous season and were not able to qualify for the Champions League.

Even while it has been known to negatively affect some team members, it has become the norm at Old Trafford, particularly in recent years.

Cristiano Ronaldo was said to have been “upset” by the 2022 pay cut, which saw his weekly compensation drop from £480,000 to £360,000 if United could only make it to the Europa League.

Additionally, goalie Andre Onana seems dissatisfied with the circumstances this summer. Indeed, according to a story from The Athletic, Onana requested a new deal when he returned to the preseason.

According to the report, Onana has held that opinion ever since she was given the typical 25% cut for non-qualification. Ruben Amorim, the head coach, did not agree with this position, though.

Onana signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford after joining United from Inter Milan in the summer of 2023 for an estimated £47.2 million.

However, the Cameroon international has fallen short of expectations since his eagerly awaited arrival. In fact, Altay Bayindir recently replaced him as the starting goalie.

Although Onana has been heavily linked to a move this summer, it appears that there aren’t many bidders.

Ligue 1 side Monaco were believed to be the only club to register an interest, according to The Athletic, but when they found out he would cost a minimum of £30 million, they declined to proceed.

Onana was linked with move to Premier League club

West Ham reportedly made a late play for Onana last week, but Graham Potter’s team reportedly rejected the offer because they thought he was no better than their current group of goalkeepers.

This summer, Mads Hermansen moved from Leicester to the London Stadium for an estimated £18 million, although he hasn’t performed well in his first league appearances. In contrast, Alphonse Areola has primarily participated in cup competitions.
