Following a mysterious post that fueled rumors about his future, Kobbie Mainoo has denied social media rumors that he was keen to leave Manchester United. Despite pressing for a loan switch, the 20-year-old midfielder was unable to gain an exit from Old Trafford during the last moments of the transfer window.
Ruben Amorim was adamant about keeping Mainoo at United despite not starting the England international in the team’s first three Premier League games. Prior to playing as a substitute in United’s triumph against Burnley, Mainoo was involved in last week’s Carabao Cup loss to Grimsby Town.
During the international break, the academy product posted pictures of his workout regimen on social media on Friday.
“Nothing pretty,” he said as the caption for several pictures of his workout on Instagram.
But Mainoo also featured a mysterious picture from the highly regarded film Whiplash, which alludes to the scene in which Andrew, the main character, destroys his drum gear.
As a result, supporters quickly speculated that the perplexing image suggested Mainoo was unhappy with his current situation at United.
