Fabrizio Romano: Euro club reach agreement to sign £200,000-a-week Man Utd star on loan

According to GIVEMESPORT senior journalist Fabrizio Romano, Trabzonspor has verbally agreed to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana on loan.

The ultimate choice now rests with Onana, but the Turkish club is apparently hoping to sign the Cameroonian goalkeeper, who is valued at £200,000 per week, before the September 12 transfer deadline.

For Manchester United’s opening three Premier League games of the season, Ruben Amorim benched Onana in favor of Altay Bayindir, who made his lone appearance in the team’s shocking EFL Cup second-round loss to Grimsby Town.

United signed promising goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on deadline day, with the Belgian international now set to compete for a starting spot alongside Altay Bayindir, who conceded four goals in the opening three games.

Trabzonspor Reach Agreement for Onana

Trabzonspor and Man United have verbally agreed to take Onana on loan, but the Cameroon international still has the last say, according to Romano’s report on X:

In 50 games for the Red Devils last season, Onana—who joined United from Inter Milan in the summer of 2023—gave up 65 goals and kept 11 clean sheets. His most recent Premier League shutout occurred in the 0-0 draw against Manchester City at home in April.

The Athletic reports that after arriving for preseason, the Cameroon international, who still has three years left on his deal, wanted a compensation increase.

After United failed to qualify for the Champions League in 2023–2024, Onana received a 25% pay cut. This summer, he returned to Carrington in search of a new contract, a move that apparently did not sit well with Ruben Amorim.

Since then, the Portuguese strategist has added Lammens, who is expected to become United’s new number one this season, and dismissed Onana from his starting lineup in favor of Bayindir.

On deadline day, the 23-year-old Belgian goalkeeper signed a five-year contract with United for an initial £18.1 million with add-ons from Royal Antwerp.

He was the fifth and last player to arrive at Old Trafford during a busy summer that saw Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Rasmus Hojlund—all first-team outcasts—leave either permanently or on loan.
