Cole Palmer’s Cryptic Comment on Kobbie Mainoo Post Gets Fans Talking

Cole Palmer left a cryptic comment on Kobbie Mainoo’s latest social media post – and it’s got fans talking.

Despite allegedly asking to leave Manchester United on loan, Mainoo stayed a member of the team past Monday’s transfer deadline.

Despite not starting the 20-year-old midfielder in either of United’s first two Premier League games, manager Ruben Amorim said he wants to keep him.

His first Premier League minutes of the season came during the second half of last weekend’s 3-2 victory over Burnley.

It should come as no surprise that Mainoo was left off of Thomas Tuchel’s England roster for the forthcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Serbia and Andorra.

Instead, he is putting in a lot of effort at United’s Carrington training facility in an effort to return to Amorim’s preferred starting lineup.

Palmer, who is now serving with England on international duty, left an interesting response to his most recent Instagram photo.

The attacking midfielder for Chelsea wrote: “3 my guy.”

Fans started debating the possible meaning of another noteworthy photo that was included in the same article.

It included a screen grab from the movie “Whiplash,” in which the main character puts in so much effort in one moment that, to put it simply, he regains his position in the center of his group.

Do Chelsea want to sign Mainoo?

With their £40 million acquisition of Alejandro Garnacho this summer, Chelsea did have direct contact with Manchester United.

Additionally, they acquired Old Trafford’s Jadon Sancho on loan last year, and in 2023, United successfully acquired Mason Mount, a midfielder for the Blues.

However, Enzo Maresca’s team did not try to recruit Mainoo before the last window closed, according to the Daily Mail.

Instead, it is said that Everton, Aston Villa, and Tottenham all showed interest in signing the England international on loan.

In the closing days of the transfer window, all three teams were able to acquire midfielders: Everton signed Merlin Rohl, Villa acquired Harvey Elliott, and Spurs signed Xavi Simons.

Chelsea loaned Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton, though that was their sole midfield acquisition during the window.

With Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Romeo Lavia able to be called upon, as well as returning Strasbourg loanee Andrey Santos, Maresca clearly feels he has enough to get Chelsea through to the end of the season – or at least until January.
