According to reports, Casemiro may be ending his Manchester United career when his contract expires in June 2026.
The big-ticket transfer of the Brazilian midfielder from the Santiago Bernabéu to Old Trafford did not go as planned. After a quick start in the Premier League, Casemiro’s form took a serious turn for the worse, and as his time wearing the red shirt went on, he eventually dropped in the Red Devils’ hierarchy.
In the midst of United’s worst Premier League season ever, the five-time Champions League winner eventually made his way back into the team’s starting lineup. This summer, the Saudi Pro League showed considerable interest in the Brazilian, who made 42 games in all competitions and stood out in the Europa League.
The 33-year-old instead opted to remain with Ruben Amorim’s side for the 2025–26 season. With his contract set to expire in June 2026, though, Casemiro could be on his way out of Manchester next summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, there is a “concrete chance” Casemiro leaves the club in 2026. The former Real Madrid star could be playing his final season at a “European high level” before he “maybe tries something different” next summer.
“This is not something decided. This is not something guaranteed,” Romano added. The report draws attention to Casemiro’s hefty salary and the financial benefit which United reap by offloading that sum.
It is said that Casemiro makes an incredible £350,000 ($473,000) a week at Manchester United. The Red Devils would only benefit from shedding this enormous financial burden as they continue to restructure their team.
This summer, United brought six new players to Old Trafford, including Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Šeško. However, they were unable to get a well-known central midfield player, therefore Amorim was forced to start Casemiro.
Given Manuel Ugarte’s ongoing struggles to meet expectations, the club may be forced to upgrade the position if Casemiro decides to leave Manchester United next summer.
