Sacha Tavolieri, a journalist for Sky Sports Switzerland, claims that Manchester United has dispatched a representative to Germany in order to finalize a deal for defensive midfielder Angelo Stiller of VfB Stuttgart.

Carlos Baleba of Brighton & Hove Albion has been linked to the Red Devils over the summer as they look to bolster their midfield.

Man United is also interested in Adam Wharton, a midfielder for Crystal Palace, but they haven’t been able to persuade the Seagulls and Eagles to let go of their best players.

It looks like the Old Trafford team has Stiller on hand as a backup, and it will be intriguing to watch whether a deal happens before Monday’s 7 p.m. transfer deadline.

Last season, the German international made 46 appearances in all competitions, and Kobbie Mainoo may go on loan as a result of his arrival.

Stiller is more of a deep passer than a ball winner, and it’s unclear if he meets Man United head coach Ruben Amorim’s requirements for a defensive midfielder.

The 24-year-old is among the finest at his position in the German top division, and one of his main skills is playing through balls.

The Man United target outperformed 98% of the players in the Bundesliga for forward passes and progressive passes completed last season, while he outperformed 73% of the players in the Bundesliga for duels won.

Although he might be a good addition to the Red Devils’ roster, it could be devastating to play him in deep midfield with Bruno Fernandes.

Stiller satisfies Man United’s demand for a strong, agile runner who can carry the ball up the field, but he needs a playmaker who can lay deep to support him.

Amorim hopes to have Wharton and Baleba play together in his midfield in the future, but he won’t be able to obtain either of them this summer. If he is certain the German is the right fit for his club, he might have to settle for the Stuttgart star.
