A former Premier League goalkeeper has ‘offered himself’ to Manchester United as a free agent amid the club’s current crisis.
Along with seasoned goalie Tom Heaton, United’s current goalkeeping alternatives are Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana.
Bayindir has started all three of Onana’s Premier League games this season, thus he hasn’t played.
However, in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over United on the first day, the Turkish goalie failed to claim the ball from a corner, which made him appear less than convincing.
Additionally, Onana’s own mistake resulted in a goal before to United’s humiliating penalty shootout loss to Grimsby in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
Senne Lammens, 23, has never played for the senior national team and is untested outside of Belgian football, but Amorim’s team is in talks to sign him from Royal Antwerp.
A former Premier League goalie has made a somewhat serious offer to join United ahead of the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort.
Tim Krul, a special guest at the Grand Prix, told Sky Sports’ Craig Slater that he is still a free agency and can be signed. Krul is a former goalkeeper for Newcastle, Norwich, and Luton.
“I’m on a free, mate,” he said.
“At the end of the day, it’s a heavy shirt, especially Man United. To play in the Theatre of Dreams is obviously a big pressure. So yeah, let’s see what the next 24 hours brings.”
