Just in: Man Utd reach ‘agreement in principle’ over deal for £150,000-a-week star to leave

Mike McGrath claims that a deal for Antony to return to Spain has been completed in principle between Manchester United and Real Betis.

With the addition of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko, the Red Devils have strengthened their offensive options this summer. Ruben Amorim has made it apparent that Antony, a Brazil international, has no future at Old Trafford.

The former Ajax player played for Betis on loan in Seville for the second part of the previous season. He had a fantastic season, scoring nine goals and dishing out five assists in 26 games, which helped them advance to the Europa Conference League final.

Antony, who currently makes £150,000 a week at Old Trafford, has not trained with the first team and has not been included in Amorim’s squad this summer. He was also excluded from the preseason group that went to the USA.

Betis, a team in La Liga, has been in negotiations all summer to bring him back to the team this season. According to McGrath, discussions have been held over a second loan agreement with a purchase obligation for the following year.

It has now come to light that the two clubs have reached an agreement in principle, which will see a deal move forward with just six days left in the transfer window.

Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho are also not in Amorim’s plans for the upcoming season, while Alejandro Garnacho is also anticipated to leave Old Trafford during this final week of the transfer market due to Chelsea’s intense interest.

After negotiations progressed on a £17 million deal, goalkeeper Senne Lammens is anticipated to arrive from Royal Antwerp. The player has already agreed to personal terms to join, and if the appropriate opportunity presents itself, there is also interest in adding a midfield player.
