BREAKING: ‘What I’m hearing…’ – Journalist says Man Utd ‘close’ to signing ‘unplayable’ star, announcement expected

Manchester United are ‘close’ to completing a deal to sign Bryan Mbeumo, with an announcement expected within a week, according to talkSPORT journalist Anil Kandola.

The Reds are looking to bolster their attacking options this summer after a shocking Premier League campaign that saw then finish in 15th place, and have already added Wolves star Matheus Cunha to the squad in a £62.5m deal.

Now Ruben Amorim wants to add another goal threat to the side and Mbeumo has been identified as the top target, with a deal edging closer to completion.

Man Utd ‘Close’ to Completing Mbeumo Deal

Announcement expected within a week

Manchester United were handed a huge boost in their interest in the Cameroon international, who has been described as ‘unplayable’ and ‘insane’, when he made it clear to all interested parties that his preference was a move to Old Trafford.

United responded to that declaration by tabling a £55m bid to Brentford, but the Bees rejected it and cited what the Red Devils paid for Cunha as a yardstick for their valuation.

A second bid is expected to go in imminently for the 25-year-old forward, but according to talkSPORT a deal is now close to being completed and an official announcement should come within the next week.

“From what I’m hearing, Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United is close to being completed. An announcement *should* be made within a week from now. Lets see.”

Tottenham’s new manager Thomas Frank is said to be keen to compete with Man Utd for Mbeumo’s signature, with some reports suggesting the north London club had tabled a £70m bid to hijack their move.

However, Mbeumo is still intent on moving to Old Trafford, and it seems to be a matter of when rather than if he completes a switch to the 20-time English champions.

Mbeumo had a sensational campaign in 2024/25 as he scored 20 goals in the Premier League, the best return of his career.
