Fabrizio Romano confirms Undroppable Man Utd star set for major return following managerial change

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United veteran Casemiro is expected to reunite with Carlo Ancelotti in the Brazilian national team.

The 33-year-old last represented the Selecao in October 2023, where he served as captain during a 0-2 loss to Uruguay in the World Cup qualifiers.

Brazil’s disappointing performance, along with the midfielder’s difficulties in England, led to his exclusion from the team selections, as previous coaches Fernando Diniz and Dorival Junior preferred younger players in midfield.

However, following months of speculation, the Brazilian national team confirmed the hiring of Ancelotti as the new head coach.

Ancelotti wants reunion with Man Utd star

The 65-year-old is widely regarded as the most accomplished manager of his era and is preparing to depart from Real Madrid following an unsatisfactory season, with the aim of guiding the five-time World Champions to a sixth victory in 2026.

As reported by Romano, Ancelotti’s initial priority is to reinstate his former student Casemiro into the national team, and he has already taken significant actions towards this goal.

“Carlo Ancelotti has already made initial plans to discuss Casemiro’s return as part of Brazil squad,” posted the Italian journalist on his X account.

“The relationship has always been excellent and Carlo wants more leaders to be part of the squad, including Man United’s midfielder.”

Casemiro & Ancelotto go way back

Casemiro initially joined Real Madrid in 2013 during Ancelotti’s first term at the Santiago Bernabeu. The two were reunited when the manager returned for a second stint in 2021.

Their partnership concluded in the summer of 2022, when the Brazilian midfielder transferred to Manchester United for a fee of £70 million. Despite facing challenges, he is currently experiencing what can be considered his finest form at Old Trafford, delivering ‘colossal’ performances.

Consequently, Ruben Amorim acknowledged the difficulty of excluding Casemiro from his starting lineup at this time, a sentiment that Ancelotti seemingly shares.
